Selichot: Welcoming in the High Holy Day Season

Saturday, August 28, 2021 20 Elul 5781

7:30 PM - 9:30 PM

Join Rabbi Brown and Cantor Becker as we formally welcome in the holiday season together.  We will begin at 7:30 PM outside on the synagogue patio to screen three 'micro-mini' short films by the acclaimed contemporary documentary filmmaker Tiffany Shlain: "The Science of Character," "The Making of a Mensch," and her 18 minute reflection on American Jewish identity (which unexpectedly also functions as a biography of the Jewish creator of the Barbie doll!) "The Tribe".  Brief discussion of the three films will follow.

At approximately 8:30 PM, we will end Shabbat with Havdalah and then transition into the traditional service of Selichot, which introduces the core prayers and themes of the High Holy Day season.

The COVID provisions that are in effect for the holidays will apply to this gathering as well.  Please be sure to register below and submit vaccination proof (if you haven't already) if you will be joining us in person.  Logistical details are subject to change pending COVID and our sanctuary construction project.  Do plan to join us on Zoom if you are not able to be with us in person (no need to register).
