UPCOMING WOMEN OF SSTTE EVENTS

BOOK DRIVE FOR THE OSSINING CHILDREN'S CENTER

A Social Action Project with the Women of SSTTE - Blast off with Books

NOW THROUGH APRIL 23, 2021

The Ossining Children’s Center (OCC) has a long tradition of building meaningful partnerships with families and has been helping their community overcome challenges for more than 125 years. Founded in 1895, it was one of the country’s first day care centers enabling widowed mothers to work to support their families. During the 1960s, as more and more women went to work outside of the home, OCC became a public advocate for childcare and became a motivating force for the creation of the Child Care Council of Westchester.

This past fall, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, OCC pivoted to provide remote learning at the center, enabling it to serve a growing need for Ossining Public Schools students who were able to access their classes while their parents were at work and schools were closed or on a Hybrid remote schedule.

The Scarsdale Synagogue Temples Tremont and Emanu-El community has a wonderful opportunity to help the children of this remarkable day care/learning center.

Our Goal

To provide much needed books for all of the classrooms, infant-middle school. The teachers have created a wish list that can be accessed through Amazon.com (program specific link can be found below.)

Logistics

The books will be delivered directly to the Ossining Children’s Center. We will provide labels for each book so everyone will know they were donated by members of our synagogue and the Women of SSTTE.  Questions? email ssttewomen@sstte.org.

IMPORTANT!
