COMMITTEES, TASK FORCE & PROGRAM CHAIRS
The following is a list of committees and programs offered by Scarsdale Synagogue Temples Tremont and Emanu-El. All Temple members are welcome to join any of these committees and participate in them. Please call the contact person listed below for further details. In addition to these standing committees and affiliates, there are ad-hoc committees which are established as the need or desire arises.

Art & Judaica Committee

Responsible for curating the temple’s art and artifacts
Audit Committee

Oversees the administration of the Synagogue's Conflict of Interest and Whistleblower Policies

Discretion over Bylaws implementation
Building & Grounds/Sustainability
-
Works with Temple Administrator on Building maintenance and repairs
-
Develops programs, initiatives and actions aimed at the preservation of temple resources.
Budget & Finance
-
Develops and monitors the Congregational budget
-
Makes strategic recommendations regarding revenues and expenses to the Board of Trustees (including proposed increases to the recommended Sustaining Pledge level in order to sustain Congregational expenses and programming)

Oversees financial reports provided periodically to the Board of Trustees and the Congregation
Communal Worship

Acts as advisor and support to Clergy for all religious services and celebrations, especially focusing on the High Holy Days & Shabbat services.

Encourages lay participation through opportunities to co-lead services, aliyot, ushering, and innovative programming (i.e.: Boker Tov, Kaddish Connection, Sharing-Shabbat).

In cooperation with the Clergy, recommends strategic worship innovations and changes.

Promotes home celebrations and observances.
Computer/IT Advisory Group

Advises on cyber security and IT upgrades.

Oversees implementation of new IT equipment and programs.
Creative Services
- Produces creative material that includes website banners, flyers and other artwork as needed
Education
-
Serves as an advisory committee to the Director of Mazel Tots and the Religious School

Seeks to involve Mazel Tots and Religious School parents in the Synagogue

Assists with special programs as needed

Makes recommendations for future needs of the program
Family Events

Plans, organizes and runs various family-oriented events
Human Resources

Responsible for the overseeing various aspects of employment
Investment Committee

Checks in monthly on the performance and strategy of the investment management of funds and reports to the Board of Trustees on a quarterly basis
Membership & Marketing

Develops strategies to increase temple membership

Acts as a temple ambassador for prospective members
Nominating & Placement Committee

Re-Opening Task Force

Advise temple staff on the safest practices for the eventual reopening of the building

Guides on health and safety for in person events
Sanctuary Project

Oversees the planning for our sanctuary renovations

Facilitates the permitting process with the Village of Scarsdale

Works closely with the architects on planning & design
Security

Advises best security practices
Tikkun Olam / Social Action

The purpose of the social action committee is to collectively embody our Jewish values through action.

We seek to engage in acts of service that address underlying vulnerabilities.

This committee will be an umbrella organization for all acts of service at the temple, without precluding other groups from doing their own projects.
United Interfaith Food Bank

Organizes semi-monthly food packing and delivery to Head Start programs in White Plains

Hosts programs, speakers, comedy events, social activities and more
Women of SSTTE

Our mission is to enrich our lives and our Synagogue life, to create a "community" feeling among our members and to help others.

Be involved in our Jewish and General community supporting the needs of our members and our neighbors.

Present a variety of social, intellectual, and cultural programs.

Carry out our mission and the mission of our parent organization, Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ), and support their programs and projects including the fight for Reproductive Rights and Health and other Social Justice issues and the YES (Youth, Education, Special Projects) Fund. (www.WRJ.org)

Help with special needs of the Synagogue Community, its Religious School, and Mazel Tots Early Childhood programs.

Be involved with the Scarsdale Hartsdale Women’s Interfaith Council and other relevant organizations.
