Hiking Circle - Summer Hike
Saturday, July 29, 2023 • 11 Av 5783
12:00 AM - 3:00 PMPomerance Park 101 Orchard St, Greenwich, CT 06807
12pm - Meet for lunch (optional)
1pm - Hike begins
Around 3 miles, 2+ hours with some hills.
Meet time 1PM Pre-hike lunch (meet at 12 noon sharp) for extra credit at Joey B, 118 River Road Extension (off Rt 1) in Cos Cob, CT (hot dog/burger place similar to Walters without the wacky architecture). I recommend the Cos Cob Dog if your stomach (or Kosher requirements) will permit. Short drive to Pomerance afterwards. Yet again, the Lost Tribe will congregate and attempt to navigate a somewhat unknown park. This is a relatively short exploration at Connecticut's Stonehenge (well, it's not really that but it's sometimes referred to as such). The park features the impressive ruins of a former estate and other some unusual sites such as a root cellar, bridge, pinetum/botanical garden, monoliths, and other minor ruins. Walking is on foot trails and roads. Dogs and photographers are permitted. This is the last of the easy hikes; moving forward we will begin to add mileage and elevation changes. Hiking shoes, water and a snack are suggested. There are sitting areas throughout the adventure.
Sorry, Registration has ended.
