Our earliest learners meet once a month on Sunday mornings from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. Together, they explore "My Jewish Year" through storytelling, arts and crafts, movement and dance, and music. Students are also introduced to G'milut Chasadim (Acts of Loving Kindness) through exploring our relationship to the Earth, animals, and our family and friends.

This FREE class is a friendly, fun and warm introduction to our Religious School experience and to learning about the beauty and wisdom of the Jewish tradition. One does not need to be a member of Scarsdale Synagogue to participate in our monthly Pre-K program.

Kindergarten to Grade 3

Students in Kindergarten, Grades 1, 2 and 3 meet on Sunday mornings from 9 - 11 a.m. At the start of our Religious School day, the whole school gathers for Kehillah! (Community!) where we share stories from our week, sing welcoming songs, and explore Mussar (Jewish Values for Everyday Living) in a child-friendly setting. Each month highlights a new middah (Jewish value) such as Friendship, Courage, and Kindness.

Each grade enjoys its unique curricular focus and builds from one year to the next. Kindergarten and Grade 1 students joyfully explore Shabbat and the Jewish holidays, the synagogue (who and what we find in it), Torah stories, and Jewish values. Grade 2 and 3 are on a two year cycle, alternating between an introduction to Israel (its people and places) and Bereishit (finding ourselves in the narratives and morals of the Book of Genesis).

Scarsdale Synagogue Temples Tremont and Emanu-El strives to support the full participation of children with special needs and their families in Jewish learning and community life.

Shinshinim Add Value to Scarsdale Synagogue Religious School
Continuing into Fall 2019

We are excited and are honored that we are launching our third year of the  inclusion of Israeli "Shinshinim" in our Religious School program!  Our Shinshin, Eden Cohen, will be joining us every Sunday during Religious School and every Wednesday during our Chai School session for the whole year!!

Please NOTE:

Synagogue membership is required for enrollment in our Religious School.

Exception:  Our Pre-K program is open to non-members as well.  However, if the non-member Pre-K child has an older sibling that is attending Religious School, the family will need to be a member of the synagogue to be able to join our Religious School.
