TWOS, THREES AND FOURS

Mazel Tots® is a wonderful place for children to
begin their life-long love of learning....

Twos, Threes and Fours

At Mazel Tots® we believe children learn best through play.  We nurture each child’s interests and needs while always keeping a focus on individuality.   We provide a developmentally appropriate approach emphasizing language and literacy.

Our twos, threes and fours classes foster social interaction, create space to help children build confidence while gaining new skills.  Our nurturing teachers guide the children in play and teach age appropriate literacy and math concepts through thematic activities. The children rotate through centers and engage in daily circle time.

We also feature a Jewish component focusing on the study of holidays, traditions and family values. Every Friday we celebrate Shabbat. This is a very special day for the children because we gather as a school to tell stories with the Rabbi or sing with the Cantor. Plus, each classroom welcomes a Shabbat guest who participates in the blessings, candle lighting and is invited to read to the class.

Our curriculum includes physical, emotional and interpersonal development, Jewish values, math, science, social studies, music, movement and art. We demonstrate this through thematic units, games, art, songs, and finger plays, children’s literature and activities.

Your children will enjoy our wonderfully equipped classrooms and newly built outdoor playgrounds and learning space.  One playground is specific for the Toddler's and Two's while the other meets the needs of our Three's and Four's. When the weather doesn't permit outside play, we utilize our indoor space for blocks and other aerobic activities.

Twos

Our two year old program is focused on providing a warm and welcoming first learning environment.  We begin the year by helping the children experience a comfortable separation.  We guide the children as they begin to internalize classroom routines, follow directions, communicate with peers and express their preferences.  We set the children up for successful peer interactions by helping them learn to take turns, share and by modeling social dialog.  We teach the children about basic colors and shapes and beginning counting skills.  We help them develop reading readiness skills, discuss the weather, focus on body awareness  as well as helping to develop fine and gross motor skills.

Two's classes meet:

Wednesday through Friday (3-day 2's) from 9:00 - 11:30 a.m. OR

Monday through Friday (5-day 2's) from 9:00 - 11:30 a.m.

Threes

Our three year old program is focused on the social and emotional aspects of childrens’ development.   We help children learn to communicate with greater competency by helping them to develop a strong foundation in language.  We expand their vocabularies and build math skills.  We enhance their math skills by teaching the children to recognize numbers, as well as distinctions such as size, quantitative and numerical concepts.  We also address letter recognition and the recognition of their own name.  We encourage children to express their thoughts and ideas.  We introduce fine motor skills such as gluing, cutting, tracing and crayon holding.   We work on gross motor skills such as body control, running, jumping, hopping, kicking and throwing.

Fours

Our four year old program is focused on preparing children for early success and Kindergarten readiness. We encourage discovery as the Fours are natural scientists and engineers who have endless energy to explore.  We meet their thirst for learning by helping to develop their listening skills, attention span, phonetic reading readiness ability, math skills and of course fine and gross motor skills.  We continue the study of shapes and colors by expanding to include more colors, more shapes and the ability to read the names of these shapes and colors.  We enhance their math skills by increasing the number we count to, calendar use, writing numbers, graphing, and sequencing.  Writing skills are enriched by having the children trace their names, use pencils, understand directional cues and write their names.  We also teach letter sounds, blends and reading sight words.  Further attention will be paid to concepts such as same and different, classifying objects, under and over, reality vs. fantasy, predictability, drawing conclusions and rhyming words.

Three's and Four's classes meet:

Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to noon.  We also have a Full Day 4's option which meets Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
