On Teshuvah and Tishrei Preparing for the High Holy Days: Sunday September 22nd
9:15-10:30 AM Join Rabbi Brown for bagels, coffee, and a conversation about preparing for the high holy day experience.  Included in our discussion will be a look at a few texts (both ancient and modern) speaking to the Tishrei (the Hebrew month that includes Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur) season more generally, and to Jewish views of teshuvah (repentance and spiritual return) more specifically.  Everyone is welcome.

Getting Ready for the Days of Awe with guest scholar, Alan Morinis, founder of the Mussar Institute
7:15 p.m. Teaching
8:15 p.m. Dessert Reception
8:30 p.m. Service
We will begin the High Holy Day season in partnership with other Westchester congregations, as we reflect on the meditative themes of Selichot and prime ourselves for the spiritual renewal of the Days of Awe. We will welcome guest scholar, Alan Morinis, founder of the Mussar Institute. Dr. Morinis describes mussar as: "a cherished Jewish tradition . . . and a guide for spiritual development, fostering awareness, wisdom, and personal transformation. It unfolds a treasury of teachings and practices, helping individuals recognize their inner holiness." Dr. Morinis will teach about how the practices of Mussar can enrich our own personal spiritual development during the High Holy Day season. Our program will be followed by a Selichot service led by clergy of participating congregations.
