Hiking Circle Meet Up

Saturday, November 19, 2022 25 Cheshvan 5783

10:00 AM - 1:00 PMCranberry Lake Preserve

EVERYONE IS WELCOME!

Join the Scarsdale Synagogue Hiking Circle (aka The Lost Tribe) as we take a Shabbat hike through NYC watershed lands at Cranberry lake Preserve in White Plains, and uncover the secrets and mysteries hiding in plain sight: an abandoned quarry, railroad cuts, a mysterious stone chamber and much more. Hiking is on old roads and foot trails (and climbing around in the quarry) but there may be some bushwhacking also.

Our very own congregant and experienced hiker, David Steinberg, will be leading us on the hike.  Hiking is on old roads and foot trails (and climbing around in the quarry) but there may be some bushwhacking also. This is easy hiking with minimal elevation changes.

Total distance is around 3-4 miles, total time around 3 hours depending on the group.

There will be opportunities to leave early, if so desired. There is also a bonus "add on" part of the adventure to a historic site that is not part of the Preserve, if there is interest.

For those interested, David Steinberg has a book, "Hiking the Road to Ruins," that is available for purchase on Amazon.   Don't forget the synagogue gets a small portion of your purchase when you use your Amazon Smile account if you select Scarsdale Synagogue Temples Tremont & Emanu-El as your charity.

Bring lunch, water, snacks.

Sorry, Registration has ended.
