Join the Women of SSTTE and the Brandeis Group for a special movie presentation of The Orchestra of Exiles. This film reveals the dramatic story of an astonishing hero who is relatively unknown in America. Bronislaw Huberman, was a celebrated Polish violinist who rescued some of the world's greatest musicians from Nazi Germany. In the early 1930's Hitler began firing Jewish musicians across Europe. With an entourage of allies including Arturo Toscanini and Albert Einstein, Huberman moved many great musicians to Palestine and formed the Palestine Philharmonic which would become the Israel Philharmonic. Not only did Huberman' s efforts guarantee the survival of Europe's musical heritage, he also saved nearly 1,000 Jews in addition to musicians. This stirring documentary tells the suspenseful story of his accomplishments.
