Rebecca Shubert received her B.A. cum laude from Mount Holyoke College where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and an M.A. from the University of Connecticut. She holds a Principal's Certificate from the UAHC. She is married to Stephen and has two children, Seth and Sara.
Ms. Shubert came to Scarsdale Synagogue Temples Tremont and Emanu-El as Director of the Religious School in 1986. She became Temple Educator in 1998. In addition to her work at the Synagogue, she frequently conducts workshops for Jewish teachers and principals throughout the New York area as well as yearly at the National Conference on Alternatives in Jewish Education.

 Gary Katz, Executive Director:

Originally an attorney by profession, Mr. Katz served for 25 years as president and chief executive officer of Lisette Handbags, a consumer products manufacturing and marketing company. Most recently, he decided to explore a career change, returning to school to complete a graduate program in nonprofit management at the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied marketing, fundraising, leadership skills, human resources management and financial planning. His education includes an undergraduate degree from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a law degree from the Columbus School of Law at Catholic University. A Scarsdale resident for more than 20 years, Mr. Katz is married and has two children.

Jody Glassman, Nursery School Director:

Jody Glassman has been the Director of Mazel Tots, our Nursery School program, since the position’s inception in the Spring of 2001. She has more than 25 years of classroom and administrative experience working with preschoolers in both the school and camp environments.
Jody’s association with SSTT-E began in 1992 when she began teaching in the Religious School’s preschool program. In addition, in 1995, Jody assumed the role of coordinator of SSTT-E’s “Temple for Tots” Shabbat program.

Ivy Cohen: Youth Director:

We are very excited to welcome Ivy Cohen, our new Youth Director to Scarsdale Synagogue as part of our professional staff. Ivy will be with us full time, overseeing all of our youth programming such as Club 4,5,6; Junior Youth Group, and STEamY (our senior youth group). In addition, Ivy will be teaching regularly in the Religious School. She'll be teaching Judaica/Hebrew on Monday and Wednesday afternoons with our 4th-6th grade students, on Wednesday evenings working with 8th graders, and as lead teacher as part of Team Tikkun with our 8th-12th graders.
Ivy grew up in Katonah and was very involved in her synagogue. She started their senior youth group and was regional president and national vice-president of NFTY, the teen branch of the Reform Movement. She was active in the University of Delaware's chapter of Kesher, the Reform group on campus, and has spent over 15 years as a camper and now a program director at Camp Eisner.
