They Judged Israel! (And Israel Needed Judging!) The Torah ends as we enter the Promised Land. What happened next? Join us for a text-based look at the Period of Joshua and the Judges. You'll see that the afternoon soaps have nothing on the stories of our own people! Wednesdays: Sept. 21, Nov. 16, Jan. 25, Mar. 28, May 23 7:30 pm
Personal Spirituality What does the Jewish tradition teach us about healing, thanksgiving and our understanding to God? What are our responsibilities to God, ourselves, and our community? Each week, we will focus on a different topic: our understanding of God; healing and challenge; gratitude and praise; mitzvah and responsibility. Our tools will be the texts of our prayer book, the Psalms, and modern commentary. As we progress from week to week, you will be encouraged to create (or recreate) your own "Personal Theology" that will allow you to deepen your relationship with the Divine. Thursdays March 8, 15, 22 & 29 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Jewish Literacy BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! This class, meeting with Rabbi Klein, will slowly, but surely, move through Joseph Telushkin's best -seller, Jewish Literacy - a compendium of "the most important things to know about the Jewish religion, its people, and its history." If you've been harboring any questions about Judaism, this is the place and the time to ask. Rabbi Klein will bring in supplementary materials as well, delving deeper into some of the issues raised. The focus will reflect the interest of the class, moving back and forth in the text, from the ancient to the contemporary, from the secular to the sacred. All are welcome, no matter how basic or how strong your Judaic background. Come to one session, or come to all - each one will be free standing! Tuesdays: Sept. 13, Oct. 11, Nov. 8, Dec. 13, Jan. 10, Feb. 14, Mar. 13, Apr. 10, May 8, June 12 8:00 pm
Rabbi's Bible Study Chavurah Join Rabbi Klein for some free-wheeling discussion, with many questions, and hopefully enough answers to cover it all. We begin with the Bible (currently the Books of Samuel, having gone through the Torah two times!), but we move far beyond the Biblical text. This is a great Tuesday morning "pick me up." Tuesdays at 10:30 am beginning October 4
